As part of our well services for oil and gas purchasers and operators, we process crude oil run tickets.
Crude Oil Run Tickets
Crude oil run tickets are field documents that record the movement of crude oil from a tank to a transporter. The tickets serve as proof that the oil was picked up, measured, and transferred.
A run ticket is created each time oil is “run” (hauled or transferred) from a storage tank.
Information On Run tickets
Run tickets chronicle the who, what, when, where, and how much of a transaction.
They typically contain information about:
- operator
- purchaser
- pickup location (property name and lease)
- tank ID or tank battery
- opening tank measurements (the amount of oil in the tank before it is offloaded)
- temperature and gravity (which impact volume)
- closing tank measurements (the amount of oil in the tank after the truck has been filled)
- where the oil went
- date and time of the run
Accuracy Matters
Because crude oil run tickets are foundational records for several processes, accuracy matters!
Run tickets allocate production volumes to each well and owner and ensure that correct royalty and working interest payments are calculated.
The tickets also provide an audit trail for state regulatory reporting, internal accounting checks, and dispute resolutions (over volume discrepancies, for example).
